Golf Ball Recovery at Pebble Beach Golf Links
Pebble Beach Company has worked diligently to address incidental golf ball accumulation in the marine waters off of Pebble Beach.
Golf Ball Recovery
The stunning environmental backdrop of the Monterey Bay is an integral part of the extraordinary golf experience of Pebble Beach Golf Links. Golf ball loss is incidental to course play (even the pros have been known to lose a ball in the water on occasion), and we are actively involved in both helping to prevent golf ball loss and cleaning up errant golf balls. Pebble Beach Company has worked diligently with the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and others to address incidental golf ball accumulation in the marine waters off of Pebble Beach.
- Pebble Beach Company contracts with research divers in both governmental and nongovernmental organizations to collect golf balls and independently identify and advise on key locations for our ongoing collection efforts (storm surges and tidal factors influence where golf balls move and congregate). We also contract with private professional divers to collect errant golf balls (by snorkel and scuba).
- Pebble Beach staff and volunteers regularly collect golf balls from the shoreline and beaches.
- Pebble Beach Company has a policy in place that prohibits golfers from intentionally hitting a golf ball into the ocean. Pebble Beach caddies and employees understand that any such intentional actions are prohibited.
Pebble Beach Golf Links provides an important and long-standing recreational use alongside the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to be a good environmental steward.
