Sun Day Red Lands at Pebble Beach

The year is 2000. For the 100th time the U.S. Open will bring together a field of 156 hopefuls from local qualifiers, to the heavyweights of the professional circuit. And while on paper everyone has a chance, the next four days would reveal an entirely different reality. That this championship, and the next generation of golf, belonged to one person and one person alone. Tiger Woods.

Over the next 72 holes, Woods would go on to secure his third major championship but the win was far more than a tally on his resume. This was a shot across the bow, a statement that there was a new face of the game, this was and remains today the most dominant performance in the history of major championship golf.

Famously, Woods was the only player to finish in red figures over the course of that championship doing so comfortably at 12-under par. His 15-shot romp stands today as the largest margin of victory ever recorded in a major as Ernie Els and Miguel Angel Jimenez shared second place at 3-over par. Donned in his signature red and black ensemble, Woods emphatically ushered in a new era of professional golf.

Over the past two decades plus, Woods has added plenty more titles, 12 majors to be exact, each and every one of them in the same iconic color scheme he donned that June afternoon in 2000. And this month, Woods’ line inspired by that famed victory red is available for the first time in stores, exclusively at Pebble Beach.

Life at Pebble is similar to the inspiration behind Sun Day Red. Rooted in golf but with an emphasis on active lifestyles both on and off the course. Whether you’re starting your morning with a workout at the stunning Beach & Tennis Club, loosening up with a morning stroll along the Spanish Bay boardwalk, or simply unwinding in the confines of The Inn at Spanish Bay, Sun Day Red encapsulates all that is Pebble Beach Resorts making it the perfect place to launch the next phase of the brands journey.

A standalone brand with a dedicated team of designers, every stitch of Sun Day Red apparel embodies the years of data that Woods has filed away during the most dominant stretch the game has ever seen. No detail is too small and this is reflected in the logo which weaves in the 15 major titles he has claimed within what is now the hottest logo in golf apparel.

Back when Woods made his professional debut in 1996 the word was out that a phenom like no other was descending on the professional landscape. 28 years later, the same could be said about his apparel brand which has driven demand unlike any others in the golf space. Sun Day Red is here to stay, and its debut at Pebble Beach may well be it’s ‘Hello World’ moment.

History has long been a key component of the allure of Pebble Beach Resorts but for the very first time, now guests have a chance to wear it.
