The Year of the Sequel

So often the sequel never lives up to the original. But what if it did? 2024 was a year of firsts here with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am bringing the strongest field in tournament history as it was played for the first time as a PGA TOUR Signature Event. A couple months later, while it was not a first, Pebble Beach Food & Wine had a brand-new look and feel after a five-year hiatus.

So, as each returns in the months ahead, who’s to say the sequel won’t top the original?

As for the golf, the field is once again set to be a sterling one. A couple of stars are primed to make their season debuts after rebounding from injuries – World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth, a mainstay at this event and a fan favorite on the Peninsula.

Last year was one filled with changes, the event pivoted from rotating across three courses to being held exclusively at Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Pebble Beach Golf Links. At the halfway point, the leaderboard had the feel of a major championship with Scheffler and Ludvig Aberg tied for the lead with Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas just one and two shots off the pace respectively.

Over the weekend, a couple of unstoppable forces – mother nature and Wyndham Clark – would have the final say as Clark powered his way to a course record 60, the lowest recorded in the 105year history of Pebble Beach Golf Links. Weather would wash out what was set to be a must-see final round.

As the golf course gears up for the world’s best, and the world tunes in for the famed West Coast swing, anticipation is as high as it’s ever been for the 79th playing of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

In early April, as golf’s major championship season unfurls, the crowned jewel of Food & Wine festivals returns to Pebble Beach. And while the stars of the PGA TOUR will have concluded their business here, a wave of A-listers from the culinary world will pick up the baton.

Stars including James Beard Award winners and Michelin-starred chefs, such as Nyesha Arrington, Esther Choi, Jonathan Waxman, Andrew Zimmern, and Chris Shepherd, alongside notable talents like Giada De Laurentiis, Elizabeth Falkner, Maneet Chauhan, Richard Blais, and Mawa McQueen are set to attend. Over the weekend expertly guided wine seminars, panels, and tastings led by celebrated producers will delight attendees including Tignanello, Remy Cointreau, ZD Wines, DeLille Cellars, and Schramsberg Vineyards. Check out the full schedule for the week here

And while both events are just one weeklong in totality, their impact is felt in the surrounding communities throughout the year. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has raised more than $230 Million since the event’s inception and is perennially ranked as one of the most charitable contributors on the PGA TOUR. Pebble Beach Food & Wine is presented by the Pebble Beach Company Foundation and proceeds support Monterey County’s youth-focused nonprofits through grants that foster literacy and educational opportunities.

Pebble Beach has long been a favorite destination for the biggest stars in sport, culinary and beyond. On the course, moments like Jack Nicklaus’ 1-iron in 1972 and Tom Watson’s chip-in ten years later are indelible moments in the minds of golf fans. Off the course, amenities like Casa Palmero, The Spa, The Lodge and The Inn at Spanish Bay draw guests from around the globe and for these two weeks in particular – January 27 – February 2 and April 10-13 – Pebble Beach draws the very best in golf and culinary.
